Historic Post Office, Commerce Street, Galena
Built from 1857-59 of Nauvoo limestone by General Eli. S. Parker, a Seneca Indian who served on Grant's staff. This Renaissance Revival building is the second oldest continuously operating post office in the United States and the first to be named a "Great American Post Office" by the Smithsonian.
